The Denver Broncos need some additional help at the cornerback position with the 2019 NFL offseason currently in its very early stages. Nonetheless, some things are already beginning to take shape with the Broncos expected to spent some money en route to making a push toward the postseason in 2019-20.

With that in mind, the asking price to bring back veteran cornerback Bradley Roby might just be too high for the Broncos. According to a recent report out of Denver, Roby wants “at least” $10 million per year when he signs his next NFL contract.

“A first-round pick in 2014, the Broncos picked up his fifth-year option of $8.526 million in 2018. He played well at times, not well at other times,” writes Mike Klis of 9 News Denver. “The Broncos would like him back at a reduced average annual rate, but he will seek a deal of at least $10 million a year. If his market isn’t what he’s hoping for, the Broncos could come back into play.”

Leading to the Broncos' tricky situation at the cornerback position, the slumping AFC West franchise really only has one legitimate option in Chris Harris Jr. with both Roby and Tramaine Brock slated to become unrestricted free agents this offseason.

“The Broncos’ only proven corner with plenty of game left in him is Chris Harris Jr.,” Klis adds. “But their next two cornerbacks, Bradley Roby and Tramaine Brock, are unrestricted free agents. No. 4 cornerback, Isaac Yiadom, will miss much of the offseason practices because of shoulder surgery.”

It is worth noting, though, that the Broncos have already made a splash on the offensive side of the football by acquiring former Baltimore Ravens quarterback Joe Flacco.
