Brandon McManus has been the Denver Broncos' kicker for the past five seasons. Just because he's performed well enough to retain his job for half a decade, though, hardly means Denver wouldn't be open to replacing him if the team finds a superior option at kicker. Case in point: Taylor Bertolet, who signed with the Broncos in April, will enter training camp come July 18 competing to be Denver's full-time kicker.

Not that McManus is concerned about battling it out with another kicker to keep his job, of course.

“I’ve had another kicker in camp with me every other year,” he said, per Kyle Fredrickson of the Denver Post. “It’s nothing that I’m not used to and it’s always good to have someone competing against you. And it’s not just (Bertolet). There are 31 other jobs out there and a bunch of others kicking as well.”

The 27-year-old McManus connected on 20-of-25 field goals in 2018, and made all 35 of his extra-point attempts. He was especially effective on field-goal tries between 20 and 49 yards, putting all 18 of his attempts through the uprights. McManus was only 2-of-7 from 50 yards and beyond, though, struggles that led to him ranking only 26th in the NFL by making 80 percent of his kicks.

Bertolet most recently played professional football with the Salt Lake Stallions of the defunct Alliance of American Football. He went 9-of-14 in the AAF, with a long of 54 yards. The Texas A&M product was undrafted in 2016, and spent a portion of last offseason with the Broncos.
