The Denver Broncos have made a bit of a change. Mile High Stadium has been renamed to Empower Field at Mile High.

While the name doesn't give a tactical advantage, the actual field definitely does. It sits at an elevation of 5,280 feet, the most of any NFL stadium. Although this doesn't sound like much, opponents routinely have to get extra oxygen from tanks, as the elevation is too much for them.

Despite the Broncos having low expectations for 2019, Empower Field at Mile High will see lots of sellout crowds due to the intensely loyal fans. They'll still show up to watch quarterback Joe Flacco, which is a true show of loyalty.

Joe Flacco is the new leader of the team, and not a particularly good one. The phrase “not particularly good” perfectly describes Denver. They aren't bad, but they definitely aren't good. Mediocrity has been the norm ever since the Super Bowl victory against the Carolina Panthers.

If the Broncos want to break out of the cycle of being only decent, their hopes lie with Drew Lock. Lock, a rookie quarterback from Missouri, has been pegged as the future of the franchise by general manager John Elway. Hopefully for the Broncos, Lock proves to be better than Paxton Lynch, another Elway-selected quarterback who is currently unsigned. The second-round rookie will start the season on the injured reserve, and is unlikely to see the field at all in 2019. Flacco is reportedly not worried with developing his backups, as was the case with Lamar Jackson and the Ravens last year.
