The Denver Broncos are currently starting Brandon Allen at quarterback but that won't be the case in a few weeks from now. With Drew Lock returning to practice soon, Lock is expected to return for the last two games of the season.

The Broncos selected Lock with the 42nd overall pick out of Missouri in this year's draft. The rookie signal-caller took some snaps with the team in the preseason before a thumb injury caused him to be placed on injured reserve.

Lock has been on injured reserve for the first 10 weeks and is anticipating a return to the practice field next week. When Lock does begin to practice, the Broncos will have three weeks to decide on whether or not he will join the active roster.

In the event that Denver chooses not to activate him, Lock would be forced to remain on injured reserve for the entire season. Considering the Broncos' current quarterback situation, it is hard to imagine them keeping him on injured reserve.

When the Broncos drafted Lock, the plan was for him to develop under veteran Joe Flacco throughout the season. Unfortunately, Flacco has also landed on injured reserve himself with a neck injury. Unlike Lock though, Flacco won't have a chance to return to the team in 2019.

Last week, Allen impressed as the starting quarterback with 193 yards and two touchdowns against the Cleveland Browns. Above all, he was able to come away with the team's first win since Week 6.

Despite Allen's ability to lead the offense, the Broncos have to see what they have in Lock. Therefore, expect to see the first-year passer to get his first career start in the next month.
