According to an official statement released by the franchise on Monday afternoon, Denver Broncos wide receiver KJ Hamler will indeed miss the remainder of the 2021-22 season due to a torn left ACL.

Unfortunately for both Hamler and the Broncos, the second-year wide out not only tore his ACL on Sunday afternoon against the lowly New York Jets but he also suffered additional knee injuries to “some other stuff too,” according to Denver head coach Vic Fangio.

With another Broncos second-year pass catcher in Jerry Jeudy also currently sidelined due to a significant injury of his own, one suffered back in Week 1 against the New York Giants, the undefeated AFC West franchise will now need to look elsewhere in regards to its passing attack in Week 4 and beyond.

“We'll consider everybody we have here now and take a look at what might be available and make our choices, make our decisions,” Fangio said, via the team's official website.

The 22-year-old Hamler will finish his second season atop the highest level with just five catches for 74 yards. Hamler was originally selected by the Broncos in the second round of the 2020 NFL Draft out of Penn State. He appeared in 13 regular season games, producing 30 receptions for 381 yards and three touchdowns as a rookie in 2020-21.

“KJ's a hard guy to cover,” the aforementioned Fangio added, via the team's official website. “You saw the key third down that we made the conversion with him. They were in man coverage. The guy was nowhere near him. He's hard to cover, so we'll miss him.”

After defeating the Giants, Jacksonville Jaguars and Jets, respectively, the Broncos will enter the team's looming Week 4 matchup with the dangerous Baltimore Ravens at a perfect 3-0 on the year.
