Incoming Denver Broncos rookie wideout KJ Hamler is ready to contribute from the jump, regardless of whether he is considered a top option.

Hamler spoke about his mentality as an undersized receiver for the Broncos, stating he always plays with some extra motivation and grit (via Jon Heath of USA TODAY):

“I think I bring to the table speed, quickness, playmaking ability,” Hamler said during a conference call with reporters on April 25. “I’m versatile, I can play outside and I can play in the slot. I can return kicks and punts. I’m a playmaker. I’ve got a chip on my shoulder at all times.”

The second-round draft pick could not be more excited about joining the Broncos organization (via Heath):

“I’ve been an underdog my whole life, so being in this situation right now and being part of the Broncos organization is amazing,” Hamler said. “I’m going to give them 150 percent, 24/7, 365. That’s me.”

The Broncos clearly made a point of adding weapons for second-year quarterback Drew Lock.

The Broncos selected Alabama wideout Jerry Jeudy in the first round, and Hamler followed in the second. Both are versatile playmakers who can line up outside or in the slot, but Hamler can really fly.

Although he did not run the 40-yard draft at the scouting combine, Hamler showcased tremendous burst during his tenure at Penn State. He routinely turned short crossing routes into big plays and excels running after the catch.

Hamler's dogged mentality bodes well for a Broncos team that, while talented, is still especially young on the offensive side of the ball.
