Aqib Talib’s time with the Denver Broncos appears to be over. The Broncos would like to get something back for Talib in a trade. However, the veteran cornerback would rather prefer to get cut and become a free agent so that he could pick his next team. And apparently, the team currently on top of his list of destinations is the New England Patriots.

Talib spent a season and a half with the Patriots from 2012-13 after he was traded by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He had five interceptions in 19 games with the team and was a Pro Bowl selection in his lone full season with the team in 2013.

Talib then left in free agency to sign with Denver. He has spent four successful seasons as part of a Broncos defense which has consistently been among the very best in the league. He's been selected to the Pro Bowl during all four years and was a First-Team All-Pro back in 2016. He was also instrumental in helping them win the Super Bowl in 2015.

However, the Broncos would like to move on from Talib this offseason in order to open up more cap space and make a run at top free-agent quarterback Kirk Cousins.

The Patriots could certainly use a top cornerback like Talib this offseason. The Pats struggled in pass defense last year, particularly in their Super Bowl defeat to the Philadelphia Eagles. They also need a replacement for starter Malcolm Butler, who is most likely on his way out following his controversial benching during the Super Bowl.
