The Cleveland Browns seem to be headed in the right direction now, but previously, they had been one of the most dysfunctional organizations we had ever seen in professional sports.

New Orleans Saints defensive end Cameron Jordan learned that first-hand during the 2011 NFL Draft.

The Saints drafted Jordan in the first round (24th pick overall) that year, but that did not stop the Browns from attempting to draft him three rounds later.

Yes. You read that right.

Apparently, Cleveland confused Cameron Jordan with tight end Jordan Cameron.

“I got drafted in the first round, he got drafted in the [fourth] round,” Jordan said on The Dan Patrick Show. “I got a call from the Browns. They’re like, ‘Hey, we’re about to select you.’ I’m like, ‘I’m good, actually, I’ve already been selected, but if you want to send that check I’ll take that.’ . . . I’ll take two signing bonuses but I refuse to go to Cleveland.”

Maybe this is why he merely goes by “Cam” Jordan nowadays?

Confusing names like that is an understandable mistake, but for an NFL franchise, it is very embarrassing.

As for Jordan Cameron? He actually ended up being a pretty good player for the Browns, spending four years with the team and making the Pro Bowl in 2013 after hauling in 80 receptions for 917 yards and seven touchdowns.

Cameron then landed with the Miami Dolphins in 2015, where he played two seasons before ending up out of the NFL following the 2016 campaign.

So, it seems safe to say that Cam Jordan had more longevity, which is the natural course of action for a first-round pick compared to a fourth-round pick.
