Cleveland Browns defensive lineman Chad Thomas was immobilized on a stretcher and then carted off of the field during practice on Monday, according to Mary Kay Cabot of The Cleveland Plain Dealer.

Hopefully, it's nothing major, and all of this is just a precaution.

Thomas, who played his collegiate football at the University of Miami, was originally selected by the Browns in the third round (67th pick overall) of the 2018 NFL Draft.

He played just four games during his rookie campaign, failing to log a statistic.

The 23-year-old spent four seasons at Miami, arriving in 2014. He played only sparingly during his freshman year, logging seven tackles and a sack. He didn't make much more of an impact in his sophomore season, finishing with 18 tackles, a sack, a forced fumble, and a fumble recovery.

Thomas then had a breakout year of sorts during his junior campaign, registering 37 tackles, 11 tackles for loss, 4.5 sacks, a forced fumble, and a fumble recovery. He capped off his collegiate career by totaling 41 tackles, 12.5 tackles for loss and 4.5 sacks during his senior season.

The Browns are coming off of a 2018 campaign in which they went 7-8-1, marking their best finish since winning 10 games all the way back in 2007. Cleveland has not made the playoffs since the 2002 season, marking the longest active playoff drought in the NFL.

However, thanks to a busy offseason that included bringing in talents such as Odell Beckham Jr., Kareem Hunt, Olivier Vernon, and Sheldon Richardson, the Browns are considered by many to be legitimate contenders in the AFC heading into 2019.
