Since yesterday, it's been reported that the Seattle Seahawks are listening to trade offers for wide receiver Jermaine Kearse. While no potential destinations were mentioned initially, the Cleveland Browns have emerged as a contender for Kearse's services.

From Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com:

The Browns need receiver help, and are interested in Seahawks wide receiver Jermaine Kearse, a source told cleveland.com.

Kearse initially signed with Seattle back in 2012 after going undrafted. For most of his tenure with the Seahawks, the Washington product has been one of their top receivers while developing chemistry with quarterback Russell Wilson.

According to Cabot, Seattle wants to move Kearse before trimming the roster down to 53 players on Saturday.

After scoring 5 touchdowns and compiling 685 receiving yards in 2015, Kearse signed a three-year deal worth $13.5 million, including a $5.5 million signing bonus. Unfortunately for his sake and Seattle's, his performance declined in 2016, and the emergence of younger options like Tyler Lockett has made Kearse expendable.

On the flip side, adding his size and versatility is an intriguing prospect for the Browns. They signed Kenny Britt this offseason to operate alongside Corey Coleman, who had an impressive rookie season when on the field. After that, their receiving core depth is pretty slim, especially with the loss of Terrelle Pryor, who signed with the Washington Redskins.

Cabot notes that if Cleveland is unable to land Kearse, they won't stop looking for a receiver to add to the fold, whether it be on the trade market or the transaction wire.
