Well, it's official. Former Tampa Bay Buccaneers defensive tackle Gerald McCoy is now a member of the Carolina Panthers — and not the Cleveland Browns — with the the veteran defensive star remaining in the NFC South Division for another season.

Those in Cleveland are none too pleased with McCoy's decision as many teams showed at least some interest in the longtime Buccaneers defensive lineman. With Gerald McCoy ultimately choosing to sign a one-year free agent contract with the Panthers, some members of the Browns organization aren't happy with the fact that the AFC North franchise failed to ink him to a deal.

The Browns have acquired many of the major players available over the course of the last several seasons. McCoy, however, slipped through their fingers.

Gerald McCoy previously spent his entire NFL playing career in Tampa Bay as a member of the Buccaneers. Even so, the Buccaneers decided to part with McCoy earlier this offseason; it didn't take very long for the seasoned defensive tackle to latch on with another team, and moreover, one that plays in the same division as Tampa Bay as well. The Browns had hoped to pull McCoy to the AFC.

As an added note, the Buccaneers quickly signed fellow defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh shortly after cutting Gerald McCoy. If that isn't notable enough, Suh will wear McCoy's No. 93 upon eventually taking the field for Tampa Bay. Suh has notably spent time with the Detroit Lions, Miami Dolphins and Los Angeles Rams over the course of his professional tenure.

The Browns could still thrive without Gerald McCoy. Cleveland is currently favored to win the AFC North in 2019.
