The Cleveland Browns finally broke out of their offensive slumber last week, dropping 40 points in a pivotal road victory over the Baltimore Ravens, but Browns head coach Freddie Kitchens is still not happy.

This time, however, his ire is directed at the officials instead of his players, as he feels that wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. is getting the short end of the stick when it comes to the amount of contact that is allowed on him from defensive players:

“Here is what I think is difficult: for Odell not to be able to run a route without getting grabbed. I think that is what frustrates him,” said Kitchens, according to Scott Patsko of The Cleveland Plain Dealer. “We are working on him just staying the course, and he does a good job of staying of course. I will just say that.”

Beckham was held to just two catches for 20 yards against the Ravens and got into it with cornerback Marlon Humphrey. On the season overall, he has caught 21 passes for 308 yards and a touchdown, but Kitchens obviously thinks his production could be greater:

“Odell is a physical guy, too. I am not scared of a corner being physical with Odell,” said Kitchens. “That is not what I am scared of. I do not want people grabbing him down the field, though.”

The Browns improved to 2-2 with their win over the Ravens and will now head on the road to take on the upstart San Francisco 49ers on Monday night before returning home to battle the Seattle Seahawks the following week.

Things are not getting any easier for Cleveland.
