The Cleveland Browns were finally forced to allow quarterback Baker Mayfield to make his professional debut in spectacular fashion. However, it appears head coach Hue Jackson is not ready to dub him the starter just yet.

Letting Mayfield start from here on out seems like the obvious decision after he led the Browns to their first victory since December of the 2016 campaign. According to Chris Fedor of cleveland.com, Jackson is still not convinced:

Hue Jackson on whether Baker Mayfield is the new starting QB: “I have to watch the tape.”

Jackson's comments are laughable considering how the game played out before and after Mayfield's debut. While it may appear as though he is just being stubborn about the current quarterback situation, perhaps he is just being courteous to Tyrod Taylor in lieu of his injury.

Taylor suffered a concussion near the end of the first half. As a result, the Browns were forced to put Mayfield in. However, things were not exactly going smoothly for the veteran up to that point. He had completed just 4-of-14 passes for 19 yards while tacking on 22 yards on four carries. It was magnified by the fact that the offense could simply not get anything going while he was under center.

Needless to say, things quickly changed as soon as Mayfield entered the game. The No. 1 overall pick in the 2018 NFL Draft completed 17-of-23 passes for 201 yards. More importantly, he put them in position to score 18 points in the second half for the comeback victory. Even if Jackson really does need to watch the film, it should not take long to see that the rookie is ready to go.
