It could be argued that Cleveland Browns coach Hue Jackson has done an awful job managing rookie quarterback DeShone Kizer this season. From random in-game benchings to publicly calling him out for going to a bar two days before a game, Jackson hasn't exactly been Kizer's biggest supporter.

Don't forget that Cleveland also tried to trade for a QB to replace the rookie. Alas…

On Sunday, in what was DeShone Kizer's best game as a pro, Hue Jackson tried to take some of the credit.

First, here is the blunt praise:

“He was firing up the offense, the defense and the special teams,” Jackson said, via Cleveland.com.

You ready for the part where he subtly suggests Kizer's good game was all because of Hue Jackson? Here he is right after that thought:

“He was in the game, so the lessons and the conversations that we’ve had, they’re catching on. To me, that’s a good sign. And again, he’s a young player. A young player that’s working at this and trying to get better, but I saw a better version of him today. Is it perfect? No. But I see a guy who is starting to get it and that’s huge.”

Reread that last quote again. Let it sink in that he inserted himself — the guy who was looking to replace Kizer with any QB on the planet — into a conversation about how his starting QB played well. From an outsider observer's view — which means, you know, I an be wrong — it appears Jackson has done very little to actually help Kizer.

This would be like me saying the bacon I made was delicious, even though I didn't actually make the bacon, and instead ordered out for it, then allowed the bacon to try to cook itself as I kept gawking at eggs.

Something like that. Don't you worry about the bad analogy.
