Fox Sports NFL insider Jay Glazer is enamored of Cleveland Browns quarterback Baker Mayfield. As a testament to that, Glazer raved about Mayfield’s abilities and even heaped one particular praise for the rookie that probably raised some eyebrows, per Chris Wesseling of NFL.com.

“When Baker Mayfield rolls out and throws — and I know the Browns see the same thing I saw — I’ve never seen anything like this guy in the 26 years that I’ve been doing this” — Jay Glazer on FOX pregame, emphasizing Mayfield is even better than advertised

Mayfield has a heavy burden on his shoulders heading into his first season in the NFL. Selected by the Browns as the No. 1 pick overall in this year’s draft, Mayfield is out to prove that Cleveland was right in spending such a high pick on him. He has impressed in training camp and during limited snaps in preseason games, but at the end of the day, he will be judged according to what he does when games start to matter.

Going back to Glazer and the point that he raised, what he said about Mayfield could be taken as a bit of made-for-television hyperbole. Maybe he’s just enthralled with the former Oklahoma Sooners' mechanics, but the rookie is certainly not yet on the level of the likes of Aaron Rodgers, Russell Wilson, and Andrew Luck, who have all have repeatedly shown an exquisite blend of precision and mobility while throwing outside the pocket.

Nevertheless, Mayfield will have lots of time to show his potential. The Browns open their 2018 regular season on Sep. 9 at home against the Pittsburgh Steelers.
