Some Cleveland Browns players have talked about how excited they are to play in a new defense that doesn't have Gregg Williams in charge, and Myles Garrett is the latest to echo those thoughts. Garrett told Jake Burns of Cleveland Plain-Dealer that he is excited to have more freedom in this system, and he thinks that will help him take his game to another level.

“I hopefully have more freedom to be the player I want to be,” Garrett said. “Gregg was more like: ‘You win with these two moves. I don’t want to see anything else out of you.’ It’s kind of hard with two moves. I feel like you can’t always be so predictable.

“You can be as strong or fast as you want, but speed chop and power move aren’t always going to work. You have to mix up what you’re doing. Sometimes you have to stutter step, sometimes you have to spin inside, you have to run some games. You have to have some freedom to throw different looks at them, and we didn’t always have that.”

It's unclear exactly why Williams limited Garrett but sometimes coaches limit players to a couple of moves to try and get them to improve those moves. It was pretty clear that Garrett was ready to move on to bigger and better moves, and it will be interesting to see how much better he plays this year.

The Browns team and defense has high expectations for this season and it's going to be crucial that Garrett plays well if they want to reach those goals.
