When Josh Gordon left the Cleveland Browns before training camp there was never really a timetable put on when he would return and it appears that is still the case. Browns General Manager John Dorsey said there is still no timetable for when Gordon will return to the team.

On July 23rd Gordon announced that he would miss the start of camp  to focus on his “overall health and treatment plan.” According to the Times Reporter, Gordon has been in contact with people inside the organization including coaches and some wide receivers.

Although coach Hue Jackson wouldn't talk about if the two were in contact HBO’s hit series Hard Knocks confirmed that they were. Jackson read a text message from Gordon that was sent to Dorsey sending his condolences to Jackson who has recently lost his mom and brother.

“Coach, this is Josh,” Jackson said, reading the text to Dorsey. “This is my new number, so you can lock me in. I just want to say thank you for sticking by me when I needed it most. You and your family are in my prayers tonight. I wish you all the love, peace of mind. God bless the household. Sincerest condolences. I will see you soon.”

Exactly the reason that Gordon is absent still isn't quite clear. The Browns say he didn't fail any drug tests but this is just the next step in the program to continue improving. It's still unclear if Gordon will be back before the start of the regular season.
