At a school with a rich history of fantastic quarterbacks, Baker Mayfield stands out. The 2017 Heisman trophy winner is undoubtedly one of, if not the best QB in Oklahoma Sooners history. As a result, a statue in the Cleveland Browns' honor is set to be unveiled during the Sooner's annual spring game on April 18.

Mayfield's statue will join fellow quarterbacks Jason White and Sam Bradford as well as running backs Billy Vessels, Steve Owens and Billy Sims — all of whom have won the Heisman trophy as a Sooner.

“That will be a part of the game,” Oklahoma head coach Lincoln Riley said, via the Browns website. “Instead of a ceremony outside the stadium, why not include all 50, 60, 70,000 whatever is there, why not include all of them in that moment. It’s going to be a pretty cool, historic moment for the program.”

Mayfield joined the Oklahoma program as a walk-on transfer from Texas Tech. During his senior year in Norman, Mayfield registered nearly 5,000 total yards and 48 touchdowns compared to just six interceptions.

Mayfield's Heisman-winning season led to him being selected No. 1 overall by the Browns in 2018. After a stellar rookie campaign that saw the 6-foot-1 quarterback complete 63.8 percent of his passes for 3,725 yards, 27 touchdowns and 14 interceptions, Mayfield regressed in year number two.

2019 No. 1 pick Kyler Murray will likely be next to receive a statue in Norman as he won the Heisman trophy for the Sooners in 2018.
