Cleveland Browns wide receiver Josh Gordon still hasn't reported to training camp as he focuses on his health and well-being. But he might be coming back soon.

Mary Kay Cabot of the Cleveland Plain Dealer reports that Gordon is “getting closer to returning” to the team. However, he won't be back by Tuesday's deadline to be eligible to receive an accrued NFL season in 2018, per Cabot.

Due to his past suspensions, Gordon has only accrued two seasons despite coming into the league in 2012. And since he still won't report on Tuesday's deadline, he won't receive the third accrued season necessary to become a restricted free agent in March of 2019.

But the Browns are more focused on prioritizing Gordon's health and well-being, which is why they're doing their best not to pressure him into prematurely ending his treatment program coming back before he's ready to meet the Tuesday deadline. Gordon is reportedly doing well in his program but still needs more time.

Browns GM John Dorsey recently reiterated that Gordon will be back with the team at some point during the season, although he has refused to provide a more specific timetable.

The Browns will need Gordon's presence on the receiving corps a little more this season after they decided to trade away former first-round pick Corey Coleman to the Buffalo Bills. They still have Jarvis Landry, Rashard Higgins, and rookie Antonio Callaway as options while Gordon is away and are reportedly still keeping tabs on veteran free agent Dez Bryant.
