Why The Bruins Will Cover The Spread

The Bruins' top line has been amazing this year. Brad Marchand, Pavel Zacha, and David Pastrnak lead the top line for the Bruins. Pastrnak lets the team in goals so far this year with five of them. He also has three assists this year, for a total of eight points, while scoring a goal and having an assist on the power play. Meanwhile, Brad Marchand has four goals this year with three assists. Zacha has not been as productive, with just an assist on the year.

Further, James Van Riemsdyk and Matthew Poitras have both been solid this year. Van Riemsdyk has three goals this year with an assist. He has been great on the power play this year, with two goals and an assist on the power play this season. Meanwhile, Poitras has two goals this year, with an assist, to have three points on the season.

The Bruins have not been great at getting shots on goal as of late. In the first three games of the year, they have 30 or more shots in each of them. Then, in the last two games, they have been at 26 or under shots in each of them. the other issue has been shots on goals. They have allowed over 30 shots on goal in three of the five games this year while giving up 30 shots in each of the last two games.

On the power play, the Bruins have three goals this year on 18 power play attempts. Meanwhile, the Bruins have been great when man down this year. They have allowed just one power-play goal this year on 22 attempts.

Jeremy Swayman is expected to be in goal this year for the Bruins this game. He is 2-0-0 with a 2.02 goals against average and a .943 save percentage. He has allowed two goals in each of his two games while stopping 32 or more shots in each of them. Swayman has been dominant, and he will look to continue doing that in this game.

Why The Blackhawks Will Cover The Spread

The Blackhawks are led by the rookie Connor Bedard. He has two goals and two assists on the season with a goal on the power play. He leads the team in shots this year with 22 shots on the season. Meanwhile, he is joined by Tyler Johnson on the first line. He has three goals this year with one on the power play. Nick Foligno rounds out the line with a goal and two assists on the year.

Meanwhile, Corey Perry is also helping with this attack. He has scored twice this year with three assists. He has done this on just nine shots this season. The Blackhawks also get help from the Blue Line. While no defenseman has a goal this year, Seth Jones has three assists. Further, Kevin Jorchinski and Alex Vlasic both have two assists this year.

Overall Chicago has struggled to get shots on goal as of late. In the first four games, they had 30 or more shots three times. In the last two games, they have totals of 18 and 24. Meanwhile, they are giving up way too many shots. They have given up 33 or more shots in five of the last six games. Chicago also needs to be better on the power play. They have scored just twice this year on the power play in 27 chances. Meanwhile, they have been solid when man down, giving up just three goals in 18 attempts.

Petr Mrazek will be in the net today for the Blackhawks. He is 1-2-0 on the year with a 3.03 goals-against average and a .924 save percentage. Mrazek was solid last time out but just had too many shots against him. He let in four goals, but he faced 41 shots in the game. The .902 save percentage was the worst of the season for him. He has saved over 90 percent of his shots in every game this year.

Final Bruins-Blackhawks Prediction & Pick

The biggest issue for the Blackhawks this year has been allowing too many shots on goal. The Bruins have already beaten the Blackhawks this year with a 3-1 win. The Blackhawks have been struggling to keep teams from getting shots on goal this year. Boston is going to take a ton of shots in this game. They have also been solid in the power play this year, which should give them another goal tonight. With that, expect Boston to put in four goals, while the Blackhawks will only come up with two. That gives the Bruins the cover in this one.

Final Bruins-Blackhawks Prediction & Pick: Bruins -1.5 (+105)
