Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Chris Godwin tore his ACL and MCL in his team's loss to the New Orleans Saints a few weeks ago. Godwin, who will miss the rest of the regular season and the postseason, received a recent injury update that bodes well for his upcoming free agency bid.

Per NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, Buccaneers wide receiver Chris Godwin underwent successful surgery to repair his ACL and MCL. There was reportedly no meniscus damage for the Tampa Bay wideout, who is a pending free agent.

Godwin played this year out on the one-year franchise tag he signed last spring. One can bet that the 25-year-old, who has two, 1,000-yard season in the last three years, will be looking to get paid this offseason.

While teams will probably be leery of giving a wide receiver coming off of a significant knee injury a big contract, there will certainly be teams interested in the services of the Buccaneers star wideout this offseason.

Perhaps even the Buccaneers, who seemingly moved on from wideout Antonio Brown, could talk themselves into the running for Godwin, who could opt for a smaller, prove-it-type-deal and return to Tampa, this offseason.

One thing is for sure. The fact that Buccaneers star Chris Godwin is expected to make a full recovery from his injury should only help him in his upcoming free agency bid.
