The NFL isn’t going to let Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Jameis Winston walk away without paying for the role he played in last Sunday’s fracas during a home game against the New Orleans Saints. According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, Winston’s has been fined $12,154 for instigating a fight that also led to Bucs wide receiver Mike Evans’ one-game suspension for blindsiding Saints cornerback Marshon Lattimore.

Per ESPN's Adam Schefter:

NFL fined Buccaneers QB Jameis Winston $12,154 for poking Saints CB Marshon Lattimore, per league source.

Winston planted a finger on the back of Lattimore's head. The star corner took exception to Winston, pushing the quarterback in retaliation. Just as Lattimore and Winston were having their squabble, Evans came flying out of nowhere and shoved Lattimore to the ground from behind, almost turning the situation in an all-out melee.

Like Evans, Winston is going to sit out this Sunday’s matchup with the New York Jets, though it’s because of a shoulder injury. In lieu of Winston, the Bucs will put their fates on offense at the hands of backup Ryan Fitzpatrick, while the absence of Evans should give way for more opportunities downfield for the likes of DeSean Jackson and Chris Godwin. The backfield, led by Doug Martin, should also have an increased involvement.
