There had been plenty of talk surrounding whether or not Tampa Bay Buccaneers tight end O.J. Howard would be dealt at the Oct. 29 trade deadline. Although he remains with the team after the deadline, it remains to be seen when he will be able to take the field.

Howard was unable to play during Tampa Bay's 27-23 loss to the Tennessee Titans in Week 9 with a hamstring injury. He still has yet to make his return to practice, via the Pewter Report:

Players not participating in Bucs practice today:

TE Cam Brate
TE O.J. Howard
OT Demar Dotson

OG Alex Cappa was back at practice.

It is no secret that Howard is in the midst of a quiet start to the 2019 NFL season. The former first-round pick in the 2017 NFL Draft has registered a mere 13 catches on 18 targets for 176 yards and zero touchdowns. His lack of participation in practice indicates that he will be unable to add to that total any time soon.

Due to his lack of usage, there was speculation that Howard would be dealt at the trade deadline. However, it appears there were not any offers that piqued their interest. As a result, it appears they will now try and do what they can to get him more involved.

Despite his abysmal showing thus far, Howard has still proven to be quite an asset in the passing game during his career. His main priority should be getting as healthy as possible in order to show he is still capable of serving as a viable weapon on offense.
