Tampa Bay Buccaneers tight end Rob Gronkowski has long-established his name among the NFL greats after his eventful tenure with the New England Patriots. However, things will go back to square one for the five-time Pro Bowler in his first game back since retiring from the league during the 2019 offseason.

Buccaneers beat writer Eduardo Encina shared Gronkowski's emotions heading into the upcoming season:

Rob Gronkowski's excitement heading into the season is to be expected as he is teaming up once again with his long-time quarterback Tom Brady. Before he got in Tampa Bay, Gronkowski was considered as one of the all-time greats in Patriots franchise history.

The New York native certainly made the most out of his nine-year stint with the Patriots from 2010 to 2018. He has set countless NFL records, including being the only tight end to ever lead the league in receiving touchdowns with 17 back in 2011. He also has the most career postseason receiving touchdowns among tight ends with 12, as well as the most combined receptions with 23 and receiving yards with 297 in Super Bowl history.

Rob Gronkowski's run in Foxborough was capped by the 2014 NFL Comeback Player of the Year award, four first-team All-Pro selections, five Pro Bowl appearances, and six Super Bowl championships. He looks to replicate the same success and add more to his football legacy, this time with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

At 31 years old, the former Arizona Wildcat is more than capable of performing at a high level, even after sitting out the entire 2019 season. The success that he and his new team will attain in the upcoming season is certainly one to keep an eye on.
