Tampa Bay Buccaneers coach Bruce Arians has only been the head coach for a couple of months and he has already had to have a couple of tough conversations with owners. Andrea Kremer reported Tuesday on HBO’s Real Sports with Bryant Gumbel that owners Joel and Bryan Glazer were not really happy with Arians when he told him he wouldn't be calling the plays.

Arians has had high praise all offseason for Byron Leftwich, the teams offensive coordinator and he is going to let him do the play calling. Leftwich has never called plays at any level and Arians admits that it was a tough conversation with ownership trying to sell him on the idea.

“Yeah, there was a real good conversation about it,’’ Arians said via Pro Football Talk. “I said, ‘Just trust me. My hand is there. I’m right over his shoulder. He is trained and ready to go.’ It’s just something I wanted to do.’’

Arians has tried to balance life and football and that is one of the reasons that he has given over the play calling duty to Leftwich.

So far Arians has been impressed with what he has seen out of Leftwich but knows the pressure changes a bit when getting into a regular-season game.

If Leftwich excels at calling plays there is no doubt that ownership will be happy but if he struggles that could be something that could come back on Arians and at some point, it could ultimately cost him his job.
