Milwaukee Bucks freak Giannis Antetokounmpo is barely near the top of the league’s list of the best PER or Player Efficiency Rating owners in the NBA. In fact, there are six other players who have higher PERs than the Bucks’ star forward.

We’ll let Royce Young of ESPN break it down to you gently.

Come back to use once you’ve got complete control of your senses again.

Seriously, though, this shouldn’t come as a surprise since each of those six players is a scrub who is playing in no more than 6.5 minutes per game and has appeared in five games at the most so far this season. The PER stat is computed on a per-minute basis, so naturally, a player who scored a dizzying total of two points on one shot attempt in one minute of action without committing a turnover–just like what PER king Antonio Blakeney did–would yield a very high PER.

With all due respect to Blakeney and his millions of fans scattered all around the globe, the former LSU Tiger’s numbers do not meet the requirements to be the PER leader among players with qualified credentials.

That would be Giannis Antetokounmpo, who is among the early candidates to win the NBA MVP Award for this season. The Greek Freak's PER is currently at 32.21.

Antetokounmpo is averaging 31.3 points, 10.3 rebounds, and 1.8 blocks per game this season on 37.7 minutes per contest. Despite his high usage, he is only committing 3.3 turnovers per game.

Maybe the Bulls should give Blakeney around 38 minutes per game worth of exposure to see if he could catch up with Antetokounmpo?
