The Milwaukee Bucks were able to get an extension completed on Tuesday with Giannis Antetokounmpo. While the news of his extension came out of nowhere, there was a crucial meeting that was able to convince Antetokounmpo to sign the dotted line, per The Athletic.

When the 2019-2020 season concluded, the clock began winding down on the Bucks to get a contract done with Antetokounmpo. The four-time All-Star forward was mulling his options between remaining in Milwaukee or joining another team to compete for a title.

With Giannis' focus solely on winning, the Bucks had to do everything they could to entice him to stay in Milwaukee in hopes to achieve his goal. Therefore, the organization held meetings and dinners with Antetokounmpo that were centered around the future of the franchise.

It all began on December 5 when the front office of the Bucks arrived at Antetokounmpo's home to offer him the supermax extension. The meeting that included them offering him the deal was about the makeup of the roster moving forward.

Then, on December 10, the Bucks held a dinner with prominent members of the team and the coaching staff. Antetokounmpo was joined by Khris Middleton, Brook Lopez, Pat Connaughton, and Mike Budenholzer in a more friendly environment.

But it was a meeting on December 12 with Giannis' agent that allowed the Bucks to get a deal done with the reigning NBA MVP. We've seen teams go out of their way to ensure they do everything to keep one of their superstar players.

Seeing what the Bucks did to keep him with the franchise, it's clear why Antetokounmpo feels comfortable signing long-term.

Now the Bucks need to deliver the goods on the court in the coming NBA season. Milwaukee is likely to thrive in the regular season, but everyone is waiting to see if this team can finally solve the playoff puzzle and return to the NBA Finals for the first time since 1974.
