Before he was the hero of Chicago's win over the Indiana Pacers on Friday night, Ayo Dosunmu was the goat for the Bulls' loss against the Toronto Raptors.

Dosunmu committed two costly turnovers in the final minute of overtime that ultimately sealed the defeat. The Bulls rookie revealed that head coach Billy Donovan called out for him to pay a visit to his office, to which he assumed would be for a well-deserved berating.

Via K.C. Johnson of NBC Sports Chicago:

“It’s like one of those times where you get in trouble in school and you don’t know how your parents are going to react,” Dosunmu said Friday night. “He called me (Friday) morning and he’s like, ‘Ayo, let me talk to you.’ I’m thinking he’s going to be upset, of course.”

However, the Bulls coach took the opposite stance and just wanted to make sure his rookie learned his lesson after committing those critical errors.

“But he came to me and asked, ‘Ayo, what did you learn from (Thursday)?’ I told him: ‘Picking up my dribble on the baseline and having better court awareness at the end of the game.' He was like, ‘Cool, you got it.’ And I’m like, ‘That’s it?’”

Ayo Dosunmu repaid his coach's level head in a big way for their next game, coming up with a huge double-double of 15 points and 14 assists while also sealing the win with the game-clinching dunk.

“That exchange right there makes me want to come out here and go through a wall for him and compete for him. Because I know he believes in me,” said the Bulls rookie after the Pacers win.

Head coach Billy Donovan has his Bulls buying in this season. With a team as talented as this one completely in sync, the recipe is clearly there for them to make some serious noise come playoff time. Ayo Dosunmu will be there banging on his drum, too.
