Chicago Bulls forward Bobby Portis will be sidelined for 2-4 weeks due to a sprained right ankle, according to an official injury update from the team.

Portis' injury occurred during the fourth quarter of Wednesday night's 96-93 loss to the Brooklyn Nets. The former 22nd overall pick attempted to block a shot, but he turned his ankle in the process. He motioned to the bench in pain, then made his way to the locker room for evaluation:

Portis logged 24 minutes in Wednesday night's game en route to a double-double, scoring 16 points on 6-of-18 shooting from the field (0-for-2 from beyond the arc), 11 rebounds, one assist, one block and one steal.

The loss of Portis is a tough blow for the Bulls, who are already dealing with several injuries. Denzel Valentine has been ruled out for the remainder of this season due to an ankle injury. Zach Lavine (ankle) is expected to miss 2-4 weeks. Jabari Parker, who sat out of Wednesday's game with a stomach illness, could be called on in coming games.

Chicago (7-25 and fifth in the Central Division standings) will be back in action on Friday night, as they're scheduled to host the Orlando Magic. Tip-off inside the United Center is set for 8:00 p.m. ET.
