Ever since Nikola Mirotic came back from his facial injury, at the hands of Bobby Portis, he has had a great season for the Bulls. Mirotic is currently scoring 17.3 points per game while shooting 44.7 percent from the three-point line. He has been an offensive spark for Bulls, who are one of the worst teams in the NBA.

Nonetheless, the Bulls have made it known that they ‘almost certainly' expect to trade Mirotic before the trade deadline, according to David Aldridge of NBA.com.

The Chicago Bulls will almost certainly deal Nikola Mirotic by the deadline. The Cavs haven’t been linked to Mirotic, a poor defender who nonetheless is scoring at a significant clip (17.3 per game, including 44.7 percent on 3-pointers). But Cleveland’s bench needs a boost. Chicago has insisted on a first-rounder in return. The Mirotic-to-the-Jazz trade connection reported a couple of weeks ago is still possible, but Utah has fallen off in the Western Conference and is now four and a half games out of the last playoff spot.

It is without a doubt that the Bulls' desire to trade Mirotic stems from his fight with Portis, which caused him to miss much of the regular season. Although all is said and forgiven, the Bulls have to avoid any awkward friction in their locker room.

Besides, Mirotic has expanded upon his trade value with great performances this season. If the Bulls trade him, they are bound to get a nice return that can be a part of their long-term goals. Clearly, Mirotic is not in the Bulls' long-term plans.
