The Arizona Cardinals were the only team to take a player in the 2019 NFL Supplemental Draft. That player was safety Jalen Thompson and they took him with a fifth-round pick. Now, the Cardinals have agreed to a four-year contract with the rookie according to Darren Urban on the team website.

Jalen Thomspon is a safety out of Washington State and has tons of potential. He's a strong playmaker and solid in coverage. Meanwhile, he's an extremely sure tackler and brings a lot of athleticism to the position.

He also brings more depth to an already strong safety group for the Arizona Cardinals. Thompson will be behind starters Budda Baker and D.J. Swearinger, but could definitely find some playing time after those two.

It also shouldn't come as much of a surprise to anyone that the Cardinals have already reached a deal with the rookie. They had already signed all 11 draft picks from the 2019 NFL Draft, as they're clearly focused on bringing in a lot of youth.

Thompson doesn't have to worry about having a big spotlight on him. Obviously that honor goes to quarterback Kyler Murray, who was the first pick in the 2019 NFL Draft.

That being said, it would be wise to keep an eye on the safety. Thompson is extremely skilled and viewed as a great prospect. He could carve out a sizable role rather quickly.

For now though, he's got some catching up to do. Thompson didn't have the luxury of rookie mini-camp to help him get acclimated to the NFL. That means if he wants to get playing time early he'll be at a slight disadvantage.

However, the Cardinals clearly believe Jalen Thompson is a prospect worth investing in. That much is clear.
