The Arizona Cardinals needed to make a move in order to improve their cap space situation ahead of the new league year and they did just that on Tuesday.

Per Field Yates of ESPN, the team has restructured star wideout DeAndre Hopkins' contract to give them an extra $7.1 million to work with:

The Cardinals will turn that $10.65 million into a signing bonus rather than a roster bonus, which will be a huge help for the type of moves they can make. It could also come in handy when it comes to handing Kyler Murray a new contract, who has made it clear he wants to stay in Arizona for the long term.

The Cardinals just lost a couple of key offensive pieces to free agency, with Chase Edmonds heading to the Miami Dolphins while Christian Kirk left for the Jacksonville Jaguars. However, they did manage to lock down James Conner to a new deal.

Hopkins meanwhile missed quite a bit of time last season due to injury but he'll be back in the mix for 2022. As long as the organization is keeping their star wideout happy while having the ability to make other acquisitions to improve the roster, that's all that matters.
