Arizona Cardinals head coach Kliff Kingsbury says that running back David Johnson is listed as a game-time decision for his team's Week 9 matchup with the San Francisco 49ers on Thursday night, per Josh Alper of Pro Football Talk.

Johnson suffered an ankle injury during the Cardinals' Week 7 win over the New York Giants and did not play in last Sunday's loss to the New Orleans Saints.

Through seven games this season, Johnson has rushed for 300 yards and a couple of touchdowns while averaging 3.9 yards per carry. In addition, he has logged 30 catches for 315 yards and three scores.

The 27-year-old, who played his collegiate football at Northern Iowa, was originally selected by Arizona in the third round (86th pick overall) of the 2015 NFL Draft.

He played in all 16 games during his rookie campaign, totaling 581 yards and eight scores while registering 4.6 yards per attempt. He also caught 36 passes for 457 yards while reaching the end zone four times.

Johnson then broke out the following year, racking up 1,239 yards and 16 touchdowns on the ground, posting 4.2 yards per tote. On top of that, he hauled in 80 receptions for 879 yards and four scores, making the Pro Bowl and earning a First-Team All-Pro selection.

However, since Johnson's breakout 2016 campaign, it has been rough sailing.

A wrist injury limited him to just one game in 2017, and last season, he averaged a meager 3.6 yards per carry on what was a dreadful Cardinals offense.

Arizona saw its three-game winning streak snapped by the Saints last weekend and is now 3-4-1 on the year.
