Saturday was quite a special day for both St. Louis Cardinals catcher Yadier Molina and former San Francisco Giants catcher Buster Posey.

The Giants celebrated the career of Posey with a ceremony ahead of their home matchup against the Cardinals. On the other hand, Molina logged the 1,000th RBI of his career during the second inning of the game.

On Posey’s part, he has long admired Molina's lengthy run in the majors.

Posey took some time to speak during the NBC Sports Bay Area’s coverage of the clash between the Giants and Cardinals, where he touched on just what makes Molina a catcher who is simply “built differently.”

“It's incredible,” Posey said during the second inning of the contest. “I don't know if we're going to see it again, the fact that he can catch as many games as he does each year and still guide a pitching staff. I think the ones that get me are when he catches a 12-inning game in Chicago, a night game, and then he's back in there in the day.

“Those are the ones where … I don't know, he's built differently than the rest of us.”

Molina put pen to paper on a one-year extension deal with the Cardinals last year. Overall, Posey aspires to see the veteran Cardinals catcher remain with the NL Central powerhouse for the remainder of his time in the majors.

“I've obviously followed Yadi's career before I was in the big leagues and continued to follow it, pay attention to the stuff going on in the offseason the last couple of years when he's been up for free agency,” Posey said.

“As a fan of the game, I'm just kind of keeping my fingers crossed that he stays in a Cardinals uniform.”

At this stage in his career, Molina does not have anything more to prove in the majors. He has already orchestrated quite a notable career that will make him a contender to one day be inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame.
