St. Louis Cardinals catcher Yadier Molina just continues to bolster his Baseball Hall of Fame resume at this stage in his career.

Molina starred in the Cardinals’ two-run second inning in their road matchup against the San Francisco Giants on Saturday. His key hit to the right side of the field was good enough to drive in designated hitter Juan Yepez, which cut St. Louis’ deficit in the contest down to 4-2.

This was not just another RBI in the career of Molina, but it was rather the 1,000th of his storied run with the Cardinals.

More so, Molina became the eighth catcher in MLB history to record at least 2,000 hits and 1,000 RBI. He recorded his 2,000th hit in the majors during the 2020 shortened season, and he is now also a member of this notable RBI club.

The only others to reach this feat in league history include Johnny Bench, Yogi Berra, Ivan Rodriguez, Carlton Fisk, Gary Carter, Mike Piazza and Victor Martinez. Out of these seven former catchers, only Martinez is not a member of the Baseball Hall of Fame.

Molina is making a strong case to one day be inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame. From his 10 All-Star appearances to his astounding nine Gold Glove Award wins so far in his career, he has had quite a run with the NL Central powerhouse.
