The Arizona Cardinals pulled off quite an out-of-nowhere trade on Day 1 of the 2022 NFL Draft, as they acquired Marquise Brown and a third-round pick from the Baltimore Ravens in exchange for a first-round pick.

Brown had requested a trade from the Ravens, which came after a 2021 campaign where he posted career highs in receptions (91) and receiving yards (1,008). In the end, he made his way over to the Cardinals to feature under quarterback Kyler Murray, who he played with for two seasons at Oklahoma.

Cardinals head coach Kliff Kingsbury has been watching Brown for quite a while, and as he touched on during a press conference on Thursday, he sees that the NFL has not yet seen the best out of the third-year wideout.

“I think he's just scratching the surface,” Kingsbury said.

Kingsbury, who coached Texas Tech in 2018, watched Brown bolster his draft stock during his final season at Oklahoma. He believes that Brown has what it takes to succeed in Arizona, as was the case during his run in Lincoln Riley’s innovative offensive system.

“We really feel like he fits what we do, played in a similar scheme in college there at OU with Lincoln [Riley] and so it should be a quick learning curve as well,” Kingsbury said.

Brown is slated to see plenty of on-field playing time alongside DeAndre Hopkins, A.J. Green, and Rondale Moore, especially as the Cardinals called on 10 personnel (one running back and four wide receivers) for a league-leading 148 total snaps last season.

Brown sure will have what he needs to find keen success with the Cardinals next season.
