Carmelo Anthony's time with the Atlanta Hawks was brief. In fact, his tenure there was so short that he never even played a game in a Hawks uniform. But now, Melo is searching for a “Carmelo Anthony Hawks jersey,” according to Chris Sheridan of Get More Sports.
Unfortunately, Anthony won't be able to get a customized jersey for himself. As of now, the NBA store blocks any customized jersey with the name Anthony and Melo's signature No. 7. Perhaps that will change over time, but for now, he's out of luck.
It's unlikely that any Melo Hawks jersey were even manufactured as it was common knowledge that his trade to Atlanta would result in a buyout. But if Melo is searching for this rare jersey, there has to be a die-hard Melo fan out there in possession of a custom made Anthony.
Despite his deteriorating play, Melo still holds superstar status among the league and many of its fans. People are still crazy about Anthony. If Melo really wants to find his Hawks jersey, all he has to do is ask his legion of fans. Someone will have it.
Now that Melo's with the Rockets, his legion of fans will don his trademark No. 7 on Houston's red jerseys. It's unclear whether or not Melo will have a bounce-back year in Houston after a disappointing campaign with the Oklahoma City Thunder.
But regardless, Melo and his fans have a couple new jerseys to add their collections.
