Larry Nance Jr. has explosive hops, which the rest of the NBA is fully aware of. On Monday night, Detroit Pistons forward Blake Griffin got a first-hand experience of Nance’s leaping ability when the Cleveland Cavaliers’ trade-deadline acquisition yammed one right on his face off a pass from LeBron James.

The dunk did not actually count because Nance was fouled on his way to the basket by James Ennis, but Blake Griffin nonetheless got served with his own dose of medicine.

Nance has become a shiny new toy for LeBron James on offense. Often looking for teammates to finish plays, James has hooked up with Nance on numerous occasions since the Los Angeles Lakers traded the power forward along with Jordan Clarkson to the Cavs for Isaiah Thomas, Channing Frye, and Cleveland’s own first-round pick in this year’s NBA Draft.

Entering the Detroit game, Larry Nance Jr. has season averages of 8.8 points and 6.7 rebounds on 22.0 minutes per contest.

Nance is expected to have an elevated role for the Cavs in the coming days with Cleveland big men Tristan Thompson and Kevin Love out with injuries.

Of course, more playing time means a higher chance to see Nance put yet another poor fellow on his poster. Thompson is expected to miss a number of games because of an ankle issue, while Love is weeks away from returning from a hand injury.

After dealing with Detroit, Nance and the Cavaliers will head to Mile High City for a match with the Denver Nuggets, who beat Cleveland last Saturday, 126-117.
