The Boston Celtics could have two key players available when they play the San Antonio Spurs, as head coach Brad Stevens is optimistic that Gordon Hayward and Aron Baynes could give it a go Sunday night.

Hayward has officially been ruled out of Saturday's game against the Charlotte Hornets due to a neck strain he suffered in last Saturday's game against the Atlanta Hawks. Meanwhile, Baynes suffered an ankle sprain against the Philadelphia 76ers a couple of days ago, and it was believed that he would miss at least 10-15 days. Fortunately for Boston, his injury wasn't as serious as initially reported.

The Celtics will be facing one of the hottest teams in the Western Conference on Sunday, as the Spurs have won eight of their last 10 games. They previously went on a nine-game winning streak before losing the last two, and with the postseason just a few weeks away, Boston will need all the wins they can get in order to snag one of the top four spots in the East.

The Celtics are just one game behind the fourth-seeded Indiana Pacers, who are currently on a four-game losing streak.

Having both Hayward and Baynes back on the floor would give the Celtics an extra boost both on offense and defense, but if the team feels it would be better to rest them both, they'll do it. Boston would rather have them healthy in the playoffs than risk the possibility of worsening their respective injuries.

An update is expected to be provided by Boston within the next 24 hours.
