Boston Celtics head coach Brad Stevens says rookie guard Romeo Langford has been cleared to play for a month.

Langford underwent right thumb surgery. The thumb injury limited Langford during his lone season at Indiana:

The Celtics drafted Romeo Langford with the 14th overall pick in this year's draft. It looks like Langford will be a full participant in training camp.

Langford averaged 16.5 points, 5.4 rebounds and 2.3 assists in 32 games last season at Indiana. He shot 44.8 percent from the field, 27.2 percent from beyond the arc and 72.2 percent from the free-throw line.

It's a new-look Boston team this upcoming season. The Celtics replaced Kyrie Irving (signed with the Brooklyn Nets) with Kemba Walker and Al Horford (signed with the Philadelphia 76ers) with Enes Kanter.

The franchise is looking forward to seeing if the core of the team, which is headlined by Walker, Kanter, Gordon Hayward, Jayson Tatum, Jaylen Brown and Marcus Smart, can make some noise in the East and contend for a championship.

Langford is lucky he got drafted by the Celtics. He's part of a great organization with a rich history. Langford won't have to carry the load on offense like a lot of rookies have to do. He'll be able to ease into his role under the watchful eye of Stevens.
