Brad Stevens is excited to coach new Boston Celtics All-Star point guard Kemba Walker next season.

Stevens says Walker, who signed a four-year contract with the Celtics this summer, has a “contagiousness to him that will be fun.”

“The way I feel about Kemba, even through his UConn days, is that he plays with a smile,” Stevens said, via Justin Barrasso Sports Illustrated. “There is a contagiousness to him that will be fun. There is a lot on his plate, and we’ve had really good point guards—[Rajon] Rondo, Isaiah [Thomas], who was incredible and had that year in 2016-17 that was ridiculous, and Kyrie [Irving] was second team All-NBA this year and would’ve been All-NBA last year if he hadn’t got hurt at the end. Our point guards are asked to do a lot, but we’re awfully glad Kemba is here.”

Kemba Walker has career averages of 19.8 points, 3.8 rebounds and 5.5 assists in 605 games. He put up 25.6 points and 5.9 dimes last season with the Charlotte Hornets and made the All-NBA third team.

Walker is one of the best point guards in the NBA. The Celtics are very fortunate they were able to replace Kyrie Irving with Walker, who is looking forward to go on a deep playoff run in Boston — something he was never able to accomplish in Charlotte.

Kemba is in China right now playing for Team USA in the FIBA World Cup. He's joined by Celtics teammates Jayson Tatum, Jaylen Brown and Marcus Smart.
