Boston Celtics big man Enes Kanter plans to meet with U.S. Senator Ed Markey to find a solution for traveling to Toronto next season so he can play against the Raptors in Canada when the Celtics go up there.

Kanter's passport is currently suspended by Turkey for his criticism of the government.

The Celtics and Raptors are in the same division, so they'll play each other multiple times in 2019-20. It's really unfortunate what Enes Kanter is going through right now with the Turkish government. Hopefully, Senator Ed Markey will be able to help the newest member of the Celtics.

Kanter signed a two-year, $9.7 million deal with Boston. The 27-year-old split time last season with the New York Knicks and Portland Trail Blazers. Kanter says one of the main reasons he signed with the Celtics is because All-Star point guard Kemba Walker recruited him once the free agency period started on June 30.

In 2018-19, Kanter averaged 13.7 points, 9.8 rebounds and 1.7 assists in 67 games while shooting 54.9 percent from the field and 78.7 percent from the free-throw line. Kanter will have a big role on the Celtics, as Boston lost Al Horford to the Philadelphia 76ers in free agency and traded Aron Baynes to the Phoenix Suns.
