The Boston Celtics experienced quite a scare on Tuesday night when their budding star Jaylen Brown had to abruptly leave their match against the Houston Rockets due to a left calf contusion.

With Boston having just one more remaining game before the All-Star break this weekend, the team has some leeway to give the 23-year-old some downtime to recover from the injury.

Brown, however, has revealed his intention to try and suit up against the Los Angeles Clippers at TD Garden on Thursday.

The Celtics saw their seven-game winning streak snapped on Tuesday, bowing down to the Rockets, 105-116. Brown had 19 points and played in 33 minutes at the time of the injury.

The 6-foot-6 swingman's magnificent play this season is one of the major reasons behind the Celtics' success in the first half of the campaign.

Brown has lived up to his high ceiling in his fourth year in Beantown, averaging career-best averages of 20.2 points, 6.5 rebounds, 2.2 assists and 1.1 steal, all the while draining 49.4 percent of his field goals and 37.7 percent of his triples. Curiously enough, Brown was among the biggest snubs from this year's All-Star game.

Brown's willingness to play through pain is truly an admirable trait for such a young guy. The Celtics brass, however, must treat his situation with caution and do what's best for the franchise moving forward.

It might be best for Brown to sit out Thursday's game and ensure his body will be well-rested during the break. The Celtics are still third in the Eastern Conference Standings with 37-16 win-loss slate.

Jaylen Brown's health will certainly be key for Boston, who will be gearing for a stronger push in the second half of the season.
