Jayson Tatum didn't get the dream ending to the NBA season that he was hoping. The Boston Celtics pulled off one of the most stunning in-season turnarounds in league history and were two wins away from an NBA title. Yet the fairytale path to the Finals ended in confetti falling for the wrong team.

Tatum was understandably frustrated after the Game 6 loss to the Golden State Warriors. The Celtics star spoke candidly on the emotions following the brutal defeat.

“I just keep saying – it hurts,” said Jayson Tatum after the Celtics loss. “Being with this group, the things we've overcome throughout the season to get to this point.  Just knowing how bad we wanted it and coming up short. It's a terrible feeling.”

Asked what the Celtics need to improve on and learn from the series, Tatum knows that the championship pedigree of the Warriors was evident – something the Celtics roster simply didn't have just yet.

“Just a level of poise at times throughout this series and the previous series, myself included. Taking care of the ball, things like that. But it's easy to look back and say all the things we could've done better. We tried.”

Midway through the season, Boston looked eons away from contending for a championship. But they flipped the script and turned into a defensive juggernaut right at the doorstep of a title.

While this initial setback will obviously sting for the rest of the offseason, the future still remains bright for Jayson Tatum and the Celtics. The experience and the motivation from the loss can only make him stronger.
