The Boston Celtics continue flounder around the .500 mark, never dipping too far down or getting enough above it at any point this season.

Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown have led the charge this season, but it just hasn't been enough for Boston.

Celtics legend Robert Parish believes he knows why. The Hall-of-Fame center acknowledged the immense individual talent that both Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum possess, but claimed they're not doing enough to lift the rest of the team.

Via SiriusXM NBA Radio:

“They have a solid foundation cause they have two dynamic tandem wing men in Brown and Tatum. Commands a lot of attention from the defense. The problem with them, in my opinion, Brown and Tatum don't have the ability to make their teammates better.”

Parish went on to compare the modern day roster to that of their championship-winning teams in the eighties, spearheaded by Larry Bird. While known for his scoring ability, Larry Legend was an all-around threat and an underrated passer who averaged more than six per game throughout his career.

“I think it's one of the reasons we were so successful, going back to the eighties, was because of Larry's ability to make people around him better. Kevin and I were great in our own right and then the way Larry was mixing it up and creating all that havoc, that just made things easier for Kevin and myself.”

The Celtics big man wants to see that same eye for ball distribution from Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown.

“When Brown and Tatum are doing their thing, everybody is just standing around. And they really only have two scorers, so if one of them is struggling, the Celtics don't have a chance to win.”

The Boston Celtics are simply treading water this season and the team just isn't clicking right now as things stand. A change needs to happen, one way or another, to finally turn things around.
