Veteran big man Kelly Olynyk spent the first four years of his career with the Boston Celtics, where he developed a great deal of respect and admiration for the organization.

One of which was head coach Brad Stevens as he recently voiced some glowing praise toward to him during an interview with Gary Washburn of the Boston Globe.

“I’ve always been good with Coach Stevens,” he said. “First and foremost, Coach Stevens is one of the greatest people I’ve ever met in the world. Top to bottom. Good day, bad day. Sunday. Monday. Tuesday. Seven days a week, 24 hours a day, he’s an unbelievable human being. It doesn’t matter what situation is thrown at him, what the circumstances are, win, loss, he is one of the greatest human beings I’ve ever come across in my life.”

Stevens has garnered a large amount of respect from his own players and others across the league in his first five seasons as an NBA head coach in Boston. He is also widely regarded as one of the brightest minds and best coaches among his peers.

The fact that Olynyk is speaking his strong character just shows what kind of person he is. The NBA is a grind and can become wearing on a head coach, and his ability to connect with his players in that manner certainly go a long way.

There are likely numerous other players that he has coached at both the professional and collegiate ranks that share a similar positive sentiment of Stevens.
