Kemba Walker and the Boston Celtics are fighting for survival in the play-in tournament. But it seems Walker has more problems to contend with after donning a controversial pregame outfit ahead of their game against the Washington Wizards on Tuesday.

The Celtics' Twitter account posted pictures of Walker wearing a yellow jacket with a Gadsden flag. What is that you ask? According to our quick research (also known as Wikipedia), it is a historical flag and often used in the United States as a symbol for gun rights and limited government. It is depicted by a rattlesnake and the words ā€œDon't Tread On Me.ā€ Recently, the Gagsden flag was worn and supported by right-wing groups that stormed the US Capitol last March.

Yikes for Walker.

After getting immediate backlash, the Celtics deleted the tweet. But of course, netizens are quick to save receipts (via Fansided).

It's quite possible that the 31-year-0ld Walker, always a man of good character, simply was unaware of the meaning of the image on his jacket. It might've been a gift to him and he thought ā€œHey, cool! A rattlesnake.ā€ As of posting, it's still unclear if Walker is already aware of the negative reactions he's gotten since he's too busy trying to help the Celtics fend off the Wizards.

Kemba Walker is usually laidback but he has been more vocal on social issues recently, expressing his support for the Black Lives Matter movement and is very active in helping communities. So it might be a bad look for him if he truly supports right-wing politics.

We have to stay tuned.
