Kyrie Irving and the Boston Celtics fell in five games to the Milwaukee Bucks in the two teams’ Eastern Conference semifinal matchup.

Giannis Antetokounmpo, the likely MVP of the league in 2018-19, was dominant – as was the Bucks’ depth – and the team cruised to a 4-1 series win after Paul Pierce, Celtics legend, declared emphatically that the series was over in the Celtics’ favor…. after one game.

Still, with the Celtics season over, questions now abound about the future of the team and specifically questions about the team’s best player in Irving. Earlier in the preseason, Irving stated to a group of season ticket holders that he planned to re-sign with the Celtics in the 2019 offseason.

Fast-forward past a season of full of drama surrounding his teammates, and a lot of self-created scuttlebutt surrounding the play of the “young players” on the Celtics, and you have a franchise in flux regarding its best player.

After since that definitive proclamation in the summer of 2018, Irving has been cagey about his future with the Celtics, and the postgame press conference with Kyrie after the Celtics’ loss to the Bucks only added fuel to that fire:

As you can see in that clip, Kyrie neither confirms nor denies what his plans are in the offseason. Of course, most pundits and fans assume that Kyrie is long gone from Boston, with the major teams being bandied about as his next destination being the New York Knicks, Brooklyn Nets and Los Angeles Lakers.

Only time will tell where Kyrie ends up, but the offseason is going to be a fascinating one no matter what.
