Saturday night is going to be an interesting game day for Boston Celtics big man Tristan Thompson as he is set to face his former teammate in Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James. The upcoming game will be Thompson's first taste of the Celtics-Lakers rivalry and he is expecting it to turn into a ‘bloodbath' between the two teams, via Chris Forsberg.

The Canadian big man previously concluded his nine-year stint with the Cleveland Cavaliers from 2011 to 2020 where he served as a teammate of James for four seasons. The two players went on to have numerous trips to the playoffs and successfully snagged the franchise's first championship back in 2016 season.

With his days in Cleveland already over, Thompson is now carving a new role as a veteran leader of a more talented Celtics squad. He is holding averages of 6.2 points and 8.6 rebounds through his first 15 games with the team.

By way of his veteran experience, the Celtics are now holding a 10-7 record for the fourth place in the Eastern Conference. They could've won more games if Jayson Tatum didn't miss time after contracting a positive COVID-19 case two weeks ago.

The matchup won't be a cakewalk for the Celtics even if the Lakers have already lost two straight games heading to the game. Despite Anthony Davis' decreased level of production, LeBron James is still expected to step up and will his team to victory. James has a long history of playing well against Boston, after all.

Tristan Thompson will definitely get his hands full when he faces his former teammate when the Lakers visit the Celtics on Jan. 30.
