While previous signs have pointed to Terry Rozier parting ways with the Boston Celtics this summer, rumors have now emerged that the 24-year-old is already in discussions with the team to extend his current deal:

The guard will become an unrestricted free agent in the summer, and following a rather disappointing season, Rozier himself mentioned that he would have to seriously considering moving on from Boston if the franchise ran it back.

However, it seems Rozier's mindset has shifted a bit, and that turnaround might have something to do with rumors surrounding Kyrie Irving's exit from Boston. The former NBA champion point guard — who is also going to be entering free agency — has been heavily linked to a summer move away from Boston, and this might just be the opportunity Rozier is looking for here.

Rozier had a breakout postseason run a couple of years ago when Irving was forced to sit out due to injury. Rozier emerged as an unexpected hero for a banged-up Boston side, as he established himself as a legitimate point guard in the league.

With Irving returning from injury this season, though, Rozier was forced to take a backseat — something he didn't like. However, with Irving seemingly all but set to sign with another team in the summer, Rozier might be looking at a starting role for the Celtics next season if he returns to the fold.
